Our 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels, crafted from soft Domet Flannel material, are your go-to solution for achieving a flawless, showroom-worthy finish on your polished metal surfaces. Their versatility extends beyond metal, making them perfect for polishing urethane, polyurethane, and cultured marble surfaces.
For the best results, pair our 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels with the right compounds. We recommend the use of both our Blue Rouge Compound and our Competition Purple Compound. The Competition Purple Compound, with its lower melting point, offers a superior finish, while the Blue Rouge Compound, with its higher melting point, is better suited for hot or humid conditions.
Always keep your buffing wheels in optimal condition by regularly using a buffing wheel rake. To do this, ensure that the buffing wheel is spinning at its usual speed and securely hold the rake against it, either with a stationary bench grinder or lathe. When using a grinder, exercise caution and use your feet to secure the rake to the ground while holding the angle grinder to it. Raking your buffing wheel removes hardened and burned-on polishing and buffing compounds from the edges, improving efficiency and surface quality. If you notice a significant decrease in the amount of residual metal dust produced during buffing, it's a clear sign that it's time to rake the buffing wheel and reapply a small amount of metal polishing compound.
For optimal results, we recommend the following polishers/grinders to use with our Sewn Buffing Wheels:
MAKITA 9237C: The best 3,500 RPM polishing machine, suitable for both professionals and beginners.
MAKITA GA7021: The best 6,000 RPM polishing machine, ideal for professionals seeking top-tier performance.
To ensure precision and control during your polishing tasks, run our Sewn Buffing Wheels at speeds ranging from 2,000 to 2,200 RPMs.
For added security, these wheels should be mounted using our 3" Flat Steel Safety Flanges and lock nut, as illustrated below with our Cloth & Sisal Buffing Wheel:
