    What is Aluminum Metal Polish?

    Aluminum metal polish is specifically formulated to restore, clean, and polish aluminum surfaces. It removes oxidation, stains, tarnish and other causes of damage and brings back life to your metal surface. This product has fierce cutting action that provides a bright, mirror-like finish. Some other key features you can retrieve from this product is restored luster, protection, and versatility. You can use it on a variety of surfaces such as wheels, trims, etc. 

     

    What Ingredients Come in Aluminum Metal Polish?

    Formulas and ingredients will vary from brand to brand. Common chemicals and ingredients used in aluminum metal polishes are 

    • Fine or mild abrasives are often added to remove those small imperfections found on a vehicle's surface.
    • Solvents work to to dissolve and remove dirt and unwanted contaminants from the surface of the vehicle. Types of solvents in these products are mineral spirits, ethanol, or isopropyl alcohol. 
    • Surfactants lift grease and dirt, while also improving the effectiveness of the cleaning properties. Nonionic, anionic, or cationic surfactants are common surfactants you may find in aluminum metal polish.
    • Lubricants, such as mineral oil or silicone oil, may be added to reduce friction during the process of polishing.

     

    How to Use Aluminum Metal Polish?

    Instructions may vary depending on manufacturers, but a simple guide to using an aluminum metal polish is as follows;

    1. You will want to start with a clean vehicle. Wash the surface and dry thoroughly to remove any loose dirt. 
    2. Apply the aluminum metal polish to the surface with a clean microfiber towel or applicator pad.
    3. Use circular motions with moderate pressure to ensure a nice and even application.
    4. Allow for penetration then use a clean microfiber towel to buff off the polish.
    5. Keep up with regular cleaning and apply protective coatings if wanted.
